Joanna White was appointed to the board in February 2025.

Joanna is the assistant deputy minister for labour market development in the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. She joined the BC public service in April 2006 and has held a variety of positions, including a series of leadership roles.

From November 2019 to December 2022, she was the assistant deputy minister and executive financial officer for the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation and the Ministry of Labour. Prior to that, she was executive director of the Community Gaming Grants program within the former Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development; she also held the role of executive director of corporate priorities and planning for the Economy Sector ministries.

In addition to her work as a trustee for the plan, Joanna is currently a trustee for the Student Tuition Protection Fund and board member and treasurer for the Labour Market Information Council. She is also the ethics advisor for the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, a position she held in the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation from 2020 to 2022.

Joanna holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Manchester.
