What to do if you change your name

Learn what you need to do if you change your first, middle or last name(s).


Letting us know you've changed your name is a legal requirement that helps us accurately process your information, ensuring you receive your pension on time.

If you are an active or inactive member

For a change to your first or middle name(s):

  1. Sign in to My Account and update your personal profile information
  2. Send a copy of the Declaration of change of name (first or middle name only) form or another legal change-of-name document to BC's Public Service Pension Plan; you may either upload an electronic copy in My Account or mail us a hard copy

For a change to your last name:

  1. Sign in to My Account and update your personal profile information
  2. Send us a copy of your marriage certificate or legal change-of-name document; you may either upload an electronic copy or mail us a hard copy

If you are a retired member

For a change to your first or middle name(s), send us:

  • A Declaration of change of name (first or middle name only) form, and
  • A clear copy of your current identification

For a change to your last name, send us:

  • A clear copy of your marriage certificate or legal change-of-name document, and
  • A clear copy of your current identification

To send us these documents, you may either attach electronic copies to a message in My Account Message Centre or mail us a hard copy.

If you are a limited member

Contact the plan to let us know your name has changed.
