The Public Service Pension Board of Trustees is considering making changes to the retirement group health benefits plan.

Why changes are being considered

The board is committed to providing access to health benefits for retired members. The board reviews the pension plan’s health benefits periodically to ensure the benefits offered and funding available are being managed effectively.

Health benefits are not pre-funded and are not guaranteed.

The demographics of plan members are changing as more members transition into retirement. With an increase of retired members and the rising costs of prescription drugs, the board is working to ensure the retirement group health benefits program can be maintained for the long term.
