Meet the Public Service Pension Board of Trustees

David Vipond was appointed to the board in January 2001 by the British Columbia Government and Service Employees’ Union. He participated in the negotiations that led to joint trusteeship of the Public Service Pension Plan in 2001, becoming a trustee that year.
David served as vice-chair of the Public Service Pension Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2010 and returned to this position on January 1, 2011. On May 1, 2016, he became chair of the board. In addition to his service with the board, David has been appointed by the board as a director of British Columbia Pension Corporation, and he chairs its Human Resources Committee.
His training and education in pension management includes courses at the UBC Sauder School of Business and the International Labour Organization. David has received Advanced Trust Management Standards certification course of study that involves training in group benefits management, pension fund management and pension fund leadership. He received his ICD.D designation through the Directors Education Program, developed by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. He has also completed the Board Effectiveness Program at the International Centre for Pension Management.
