COVID-19 update: To minimize service impacts and ensure the safety of our staff, we’re not accepting paper documents. Please send your personal forms and paperwork through My Account Message Centre. If you cannot access My Account, aren’t a pension plan member or are submitting on behalf of someone else, please contact us.

Beneficiaries and your pension

Learn the options available to you when choosing a beneficiary (or beneficiaries) for your pension benefit.

Contacting your beneficiary(ies) if you die

If you die, we will refer to the most recent beneficiary information we have on file. This could include:

  • Nomination of beneficiary (pre-retirement) form – paper or online submission
  • Nomination of beneficiary (at retirement) form – paper or online submission
  • Nomination of beneficiary (for limited member) form
  • Change of beneficiary (for retired member) form
  • Your will

Having up-to-date beneficiary information on file ensures we know your final wishes for distributing your pension benefit.

Once we have identified your beneficiary(ies), we will send them a statement explaining the death benefit they are eligible to receive and their payment options.

What to do if you are a beneficiary of a plan member

If you are the beneficiary of a member of BC's Public Service Pension Plan who has died, contact us. We'll tell you what you must do to receive your death benefit without delay.
