Doug Dykens is the Executive Director of Field Services and Negotiations for the BC General Employees' Union. His current portfolio includes responsibility for 12 area offices around the province and oversight of the union's negotiations department. He has worked for the union in various capacities since February 2004, including staff representative and regional coordinator.

Prior to joining BCGEU staff, he spent nine years in various elected positions for the union while working in the community social services sector providing support to adults with mental and physical disabilities.

Doug’s background includes extensive labour relations and negotiations training and experience. He has worked in many areas of the province, primarily in Northern BC and the Lower Mainland.

Doug is a lifelong learner, pursuing expanded knowledge on a daily basis. As part of his pension and governance education he has achieved Foundations of Trust Management and Advanced Trust Management Standards certifications from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He is now pursuing the Master of Trust Management certification.
